Language in Use 265

USING THE UNITS

It would be fair to say that there are as many ways of using Language in Use as there are English departments. Each department has its own needs and problems, and it is a fundamental feature of the volume that what is done with it must depend upon the teachers who use it. The following sections on using the units, therefore, must be read as a series of useful suggestions, based upon the very wide experience of their use in the classroom during the trial period, 1969 to 1970. just as the units themselves must be adapted to each particular situation, so must the sequences in Using the Units. They should not be read as though they have to be used without modification or not used at all.
